Acts of Kindness and Appreciation

Times are tough. No schools for the kids, no jobs for the parents. Most everyone is staying at home trying to distance themselves from the coronavirus. However, the essential employees working at essential businesses are still on the job. Some workers are at more risk than others. One lady wanted to show those essential workers that they are appreciated by their community.

Jackie Ragan Harrell, whose family has had roots in Randolph County for over 200 years, is a woman of action. She wanted to show the essential employees, the ones at the greatest risk, that the community she loves so much appreciates all the hard work and sacrifices they are going through. After all, these are the businesses and people that make it possible for our citizens to access the goods and services they need during this crisis. She special ordered some signs on line and had red bows attached on each sign.

When the signs arrived Jackie, and her two sons, Ragan and Matthew, went to town and different locations throughout Randolph County and placed the “We Appreciate You” signs at various facilities and places of business. They wanted to show the essential employees that the community appreciates their hard work. Giving to others is probably one of the best home school lessons the boys learned from their mother during these tough times.
